Out and About.

need need need.....
soooo pretty.....

The daring book for girls....

I was ambling around my neighbourhood today and stopped into Brickbat books on fourth street, which just happens to be the cutest book store in the world, and its a stones throw from my apartment...
The Daring book for Girls caught my eye, initially due to its colour and beautiful type on the cover (of course) but when thumbing through it i fell for its naive

content and beautiful illustrations...

some of my favorite subjects
peach pit rings
cootie catchers
pirates
every girls took box.

home sweet home.

Specially thanks go out to Keegan for drawing my eye to this little gem at the Queen Village flea market....
I love how simple and striking it is... $3

This gentleman makes my day pretty much everyday of the week,
his sassy looks will undoubtably show up from time to time on here,

today he really managed to stop me in my tracks.... preppy V neck and tie combo... cute brown loafers.... mental woodland print cargo shorts?

perfect.

A helping hand.

I will introuduce them properly later but i had a little friend assisting me blog this morning, Margot...

Plotting during my day in bed.

Its like a dreary English day today in Philadelphia, I have spent the morning curled up in bed watching dubious blockbusters with a café latte. It’s almost the perfect day to spend in bed, except for the small detail that i'm feeling quite sick today.
There is the quiet humm of pirates of the Caribbean playing in the background as it type (hard) on this poor little laptop.
Though it’s a little depressing outside I love to gaze out of the window and inspect the crowds passing by below, I live on ‘fabric Row’ in central Philly, a quaint street filled with (tragic) fabric stores and trim suppliers, its such a shame because it could be so great!.. But they chooses not to be, anyway it brings a unique crowd into the neighborhood – which keeps me peeping out of the window!.

Other delights with in my viewing post are ‘Sophies Yarns’ a small knitting boutique, who’s internet i’m currently borrowing, sorry Sophie – I promise to one day come in and buy a ball of yarn or learn how to knit properly…

the area is kinda amazing because it reminds me of one of the Brooklyn neighborhoods, the city is 12 blocks west of me, an easy jaunt on foot or on bike, its close enough, but yet everything you need is right here too, great food, bars, deli’s, vintage stores etc…
I moved here in October, When Philly and I guess most of the east coast had some of the worst weather in history – I have never seen so much snow in my life. It’s only now really that i’m starting to understand all the great things that lie undiscovered around me,
The Delaware river is 6 blocks east of me, I rode my new bike down to the water front the other day, it’s a little odd I agree but if you dream hard enough its like standing in Manhattan looking over to Brooklyn… Camden, New Jersey really isn’t exotic at all!...

It seems this is the week for visitors, my dear friend is currently in town staying with me while she completes her move to Brussels, lucky one!..
Then my long time friend K. is coming into town this weekend to visit me which makes me very excited, I need to look up exciting places to take her!....

I’m back travelling again in 10days, a week of European adventures, i’m really not feeling ready to be travelling again (I came back from china/ Hong Kong just 4 weeks ago) and the thought of picking up again gives me mixed feelings.
I’m missing out on memorial weekend- typical, But I decided to make it worth it by visiting my friend Jennie who works in Stockholm for H&M, we went to school together and I have been lucky enough to visit her twice before,
Stockholm is beautiful, I love its laid back nature and how it is surrounded by water. The fresh fish is delicious and she lives in the most perfect apartment ever.
The other exciting tit bit is that I get to see my parents, sadly only for one night but, beggars can be choosers I guess,

This trips adventures will lead us to Stockholm, Amsterdam, Paris and London,
I know. I’m a very lucky girl….
Hopefully great photos to follow!..

W Hotel, Hong Kong.

When someone books you into the wrong hotel you should proabably embrace it, but just as long as you can figure out how to turn on the tv and turn off the lights...
very pretty though.

Tokyo.

I went to Tokyo in April, it was my second visit...
Tokyo is amazing and im still completely overwhelmed everytime i visit it,

'kiddie land' is the most insanely amazing toy store in tokyo, the day that we visited there was a v.i.p. in town... I dont even know? but histeria was in the air.

I'm kind of obsessed with Sausage dogs... so you can imagine my excitement when i found this little guy dressed up all dandy!

in the begining.

So I don't really know how this goes, but for sometime now i have had the urge to start a blog, I have managed to resist the temptation for so long for two reasons, one because i felt like everybody was doing it, and two... did i have anything vaguely interesting to say?...
8months ago I was living in Columbus Ohio, although Ohio will still always romance me in a strange way, it didn't really give me too much to ponder or stimulate the senses,
Now i live in Philadelphia, in the heart of the city - which i love, I have an amazing career (Clothing Design) (corporate!!) for a company that seems to be just as crazy as it is inspiring?....

I feel inspired and interested again, by the city, the people around me, new york and the other cities I'm lucky enough to visit through my job.
Ive had the opportunity to travel around the globe - for inspiration (basically shopping - ridiculous really - i know!) and for garment production (Asia)... I'm finally living on the east coast... the world is my oyster i guess?...

I finally found the balls to create this blog just last week,
mainy inspired by my best friend D. who i recently spent 5 days with in mexico - our sun burnt, tequila fueled dreams of one day having our own line came up one more time?...more of that to come i guess?...or i hope?.

My plan is that this blog will help me to figure some of that out too?...small steps I guess.

which i guess brings me round to the name Tvoroyri+Scot. (sadly missing the beautiful danish lettering - damn you english keyboard).
Tvoroyri is a small town in the Faroe Islands, the Faroe Islands are a small group of Islands situated between the North Atlantic Ocean and the Norwegian Sea, inhabited by just 48,000 people (thanks wikipedia)
My Faroese grandmother grew up in Tvoroyri, she met my grandfather, a police officer stationed in the Faroes during World War II, they fell in love and moved to England...where they had my mother and uncle.
My grandfather died of cancer when i was about 6, my grandmother Gunvor never really recovered, they were so in love,
something i will always aspire to posess.
who else cried so hard that they couldnt breath while watching the Notebook?..

Anyway, Gunvor was my rock, when i moved to University she would type beautiful letters to me, wih this old heavy typewriter, mistakes would be crossed out with white-out and re-spelt by hand, i could barely understand the corrections.
I would write back to her in return and she would always tell me she loved how i wrote, she used to tell me that it was the same as us having a conversation face to face. the letters we sent back and forth were so special to me.

Scot refers to my dear partner in crime, born in Scotland, raised in Barcelona, University in England, long time resident of Texas, Midwest dweller and US citizen. Its funny how with such a diverse background she still has such a beautiful Scottish accent. shes amazing. shes inspiring. a great business woman. shes my in case of emergency contact.

hello.
