Its like a dreary English day today in Philadelphia, I have spent the morning curled up in bed watching dubious blockbusters with a café latte. It’s almost the perfect day to spend in bed, except for the small detail that i'm feeling quite sick today.
There is the quiet humm of pirates of the Caribbean playing in the background as it type (hard) on this poor little laptop.
Though it’s a little depressing outside I love to gaze out of the window and inspect the crowds passing by below, I live on ‘fabric Row’ in central Philly, a quaint street filled with (tragic) fabric stores and trim suppliers, its such a shame because it could be so great!.. But they chooses not to be, anyway it brings a unique crowd into the neighborhood – which keeps me peeping out of the window!.
Other delights with in my viewing post are ‘Sophies Yarns’ a small knitting boutique, who’s internet i’m currently borrowing, sorry Sophie – I promise to one day come in and buy a ball of yarn or learn how to knit properly…
the area is kinda amazing because it reminds me of one of the Brooklyn neighborhoods, the city is 12 blocks west of me, an easy jaunt on foot or on bike, its close enough, but yet everything you need is right here too, great food, bars, deli’s, vintage stores etc…
I moved here in October, When Philly and I guess most of the east coast had some of the worst weather in history – I have never seen so much snow in my life. It’s only now really that i’m starting to understand all the great things that lie undiscovered around me,
The Delaware river is 6 blocks east of me, I rode my new bike down to the water front the other day, it’s a little odd I agree but if you dream hard enough its like standing in Manhattan looking over to Brooklyn… Camden, New Jersey really isn’t exotic at all!...
It seems this is the week for visitors, my dear friend is currently in town staying with me while she completes her move to Brussels, lucky one!..
Then my long time friend K. is coming into town this weekend to visit me which makes me very excited, I need to look up exciting places to take her!....
I’m back travelling again in 10days, a week of European adventures, i’m really not feeling ready to be travelling again (I came back from china/ Hong Kong just 4 weeks ago) and the thought of picking up again gives me mixed feelings.
I’m missing out on memorial weekend- typical, But I decided to make it worth it by visiting my friend Jennie who works in Stockholm for H&M, we went to school together and I have been lucky enough to visit her twice before,
Stockholm is beautiful, I love its laid back nature and how it is surrounded by water. The fresh fish is delicious and she lives in the most perfect apartment ever.
The other exciting tit bit is that I get to see my parents, sadly only for one night but, beggars can be choosers I guess,
This trips adventures will lead us to Stockholm, Amsterdam, Paris and London,
I know. I’m a very lucky girl….
Hopefully great photos to follow!..
